My sister looks pretty stylish on road or mountain bike despite not making any consious effort to do so. She tells me that as long as the sunglasses are right everything else follows - ?ifyousayso. According to the OH i have no style whatsoever, on or off the bike. Ah bless.
The Fridays do look pretty sharp. Think the jersey helps. TC also has a pretty stylish non-Fridays jersey but i can't remember what it is. It is somehow nicer than my vintage polyester Farm Frites jersey...

I like the style of Shutt VR stuff and I like style of the company. Ditto Morvelo.

Baggies on a road bike are aerodynamically unpleasing, and wearingly so on long rides, but darned useful off the bike as I don't need my... ahem... "junk" outlined to every other shopper in Waitrose. I own some Rapha bits I've obtained preloved. They are good but not great. To justify the RRP they need to be great.

I like to think, aboard a bike, I can exhibit a certain style and grace, a panache, a joie de vivre, denied my shambling misformed bulk when not awheel. If that's a delusion I content myself with knowing wearing black looks cool..

Thanks! I'm not sure which that would be as the Vulpine is a recent acquisition. I like the white-and-black Torm one give to me as a prezzie by the Fridays peeps, which I believe was chosen by @User, who is something of a white-jersey connoisseur. I'm of the opinion that I'm just slightly too much of a fat knacker to wear white jerseys to their best advantage, but it's very pleasing in terms of quality - good zips and nice detailing. I intend to get another Torm one at some point.

You could carry a pair of lightweight running shorts in your jersey back pocket to slip on over the lycra before popping into Waitrose.

Or just shop at Morrisons instead.

10 miles further to the nearest Morrisons whilst Waitrose is on the way home....

... running shorts when not actually out running? :headshake:

I did contact Tørm to request their kind consideration to the making of jerseys in plain black but alas to no avail. They seemed to think that people prefer stripes and stuff.
I'm pleased you went for the white one, beer belly or no beer belly...

Ah it was the Shutt one! On a relatedish note I bought my sister a jersey that was printed with a Cycles Dedion-Buton ad IIRC from circa 1900. Lovely jersey, she really likes it. I had a difficult time finding a women's jersey that wasn't hyper-feminine with flowers (like Shiela Moon) or in a flat pink pastel. Nothing wrong with either of those styles, just not to her taste.

I started reading that article, then gave up. I thought it would be cycle friendly kit that you could wear in the office or pub and not look like an emergency worker.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
That came across as either rather nasty or rather ignorant. But I'm sure you meant neither and I'm not going to respond in like manner. I just thought you should know.

Ouch. I can't decide whether telling me you're not going to respond is better or worse than just not responding.

I'll happily admit to being ignorant of style in a conventional sense - all this talk of Shutt, Rapha and Vulpine just passes me by.
