I'm asking here as its the roadie section .
I'm having trouble with sizing on my short sleeved shirts . Medium is a nice fit but there is a gap in the sleeve that I could get one finger under . The small size is again a nice fit but tight under the arms /chest and to be honest a struggle to get on .
Am I supposed to be squeezing my self into cycling tops as well as the shorts ?

Scrawny arms? Consider prosthetic enhancement, or lifting something occasionally.

Set up a Poll @Cuchilo? I am interested in how many people would like smaller sleeves compared to the body fitting.

You have pretty much described my scenario too.

Buy women's jerseys, lots of those have very skinny armholes, for me anyhow! Seriously go to sigma and try some race fit castelli

Don't know if you should be squeezing into them, cannot be good for blood circulation, baggy all the way for me. All my stuff is large which is now very very baggy after loosing 2 stones from the little C. Don't say anything to my wife but all my stuff fits her now!!!

Maybe squeezing into them was the wrong term to use . Having said that skin suits are pretty tight

Or tell her that all her stuff fits you I presume...

Different brands are sized and cut differently (as are different jerseys from the same brand...really need to try them on for size)

Also it depends on the material - might be worth trying one of the jerseys that have lycra arms /shoulders, they are tighter and more figure hugging but because of the lycra content there is more give so dont feel so restrictive

I think that's the problem . If I tried on one of my lycra race fit tops and compared it to a normal tshirt I would say it was too small . The next size up fits nicely but isn't tight on the sleeves or neck so defeats the object of it being a race fit doesn't it ?

My stuff various tremendously from one brand to the next; even same brand stuff varies. As for fit and comfort, if you're not already doing so try and replicate the cycling position when trying jerseys on. What feels odd when you're standing up straight might feel perfectly comfy when you're on the bike. First time I ever tried on bibb shorts, I stood there thinking "this can't be right". Assume the position and hey presto!

I have a M top i use for races - its so tight at the neck i cant zip it up fully without feeling restricted however the L top is a bit baggy and flaps in the wind, fine for a normal ride but you dont really want that in a race when you;ve gone to the expense of getting aero bike, wheels and helmet!

I think even some of the pro's have these issues - the likes of Degenkolb and Kittel never seem to be zipped fully up despite it obscuring their sponsor logos when celebrating.
