I used to keep mine in bag over one shoulder. These days I've ditched the bag and wear the camera over one shoulder.

I use an older version of the Lowepro slingshot. Looking at their website, this is probably the closest that they currently sell.

The single cross-chest strap with smaller stabiliser strap doesn't interfere with your riding position but spreads the load quite well, even on a road bike. I can carry a Nikon D7100, 70-200mm F2.8 fast zoom (around a kilo), 35mm prime (small, light) and a Nikon speedlight flash quite comfortably. The padding is good and there are zips and slots for an iPad/spare battery/wallet etc.

The longest I've ever dragged this lot was 200km in a single day from Hook of Holland to Utrecht and back in blazing heat for the 2015 TdF.

CCS have gone but Tamrac do similar bags. Unfortunately I've never found a strap as good as the CCS one as I often carry my SLR in a hip bag on the CCS strap around my waist. For longer rides and touring, it goes in a handlebar bag with lots of extra padding.

But CCS aren't in business anymore, AFAIK, so that doesn't really help much.
Site is still up, which is why I said "CCS used to make a carry case for what you want." I've recently bought a CCS case for a compact camera.
The owners or Camera Care Systems have now retired all of the remaining stock has been sold to RK Photographic Unit 7 Devonshire business Centre, Cranborne Road, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. EN6 3JR. Tel: 01707 643953.

Get a mirrorless camera.

My shoulders aren't broad enough to carry a camera over one shoulder and when carried diagonally it just slings forward and hangs annoyingly down my front.

Dslr + the big 70-200 lens goes in a cheap version of a small camelbak on the odd occasion I do bother.

Just bought a pannier rack so I could in theory carry my entire arsenal now, although that would leave no room for spare socks.
