Will, give up now, your body is falling to bits. Never seen someone soo young with so many ailments..........

I see the knees were OK on the big ride...you worry far too much........

I asked on one forum but have not had many answers and want a second opinion.

Is it safe to cycle with tonsillitis?

Thanks
Will.

Define safe.

Small but real risk of bacterial endocarditis.

TBH if you don't feel that bad, and up to exercising, I'd question whether it is tonsilitis. When I've had this in recent years there is no way on this planet that I could have exercised.

I think it depends - if you have a bit of a sore throat, but otherwise feel fine, you should be ok. If you have proper tonsilitis, don't do it! My uncle ignored tonsilitis as a kid and now has artificial heartvalves and a pacemaker and had to have major open heart surgery several times - that he is still alive is a miracle!

I personally wouldn't. Why take the risk? You're body is fighting infection, you're run down and ill. Exercise makes you more vulnerable to infection so you're risking making a bad thing worse.

If you have bad tonsillitis you won't be able to get out of bed.

If it really is tonsillitis you are asking for trouble by not looking after yourself.

If it's a sore throat and you otherwise feel well then by all means cycle but take it steady until you feel better.
