I think the cyclist did himself no favours by overtaking just as the lights changed and then cycling at Magnatom speed . I would have waited behind and then drafted the lorry ;)

The final overtake wasn't too bad, I think the HGV made an error of judgement with the first attempt , but he did correct it, so fair play.

Had the cyclist been in the further out in the secondary position (not primary!!) the HGV wouldn't have attempted the first overtake, but would have still been fine for the second.

Personally I wouldn't have filtered leading up to the lights at all. There were only a few cars there so there wasn't anything to be gained.

Selfish. You could have given the lorry a tow, Fat Fella and helped the environment;)

OH MY GOD!! ;) Lee and I posted an almost identical reply!

I didn't see Lee's reply before I sent mine, honest!!

It would have not been able to keep up, I believe they are restricted to 56 mph ;)

EMD, as an aside I wouldn't get that close behind any vehicle that has ramps etc. at the back. Car transporters not so bad, but particularly low loaders and the like - they've been known to fall down, come out or otherwise attack whatever's behind them!

Did the HGV driver actually do anything wrong? He went for the overtake decided it wasn't on and pulled back in and waited for a safer point; perhaps he misjudged the speed of the cyclist.

I'd rather not do it myself but I thought the cyclist didn't do too much wrong either. It the ones I see squeezing up the left hand side of a bus/ hgv only to dwaddle in front when the lights go green that make we want to cringe.

Cyclist was stupid...., the HGV driver fine..... why bother doing that - I'd say the cyclist knew the road.... Eat MY Dust did the right thing - that's what I would do.... trucks bikes.... not good....and it's not the HGV driver's fault......

If I assume EMD's camera is like my ATC2k, he's left a much bigger gap than you think.

It does irritate me when I've stopped behind a vehicle at some traffic lights because it's pointless and anti-social to go to the front, and then some blunt of a cyclist wobbles up to the front. He/she then ends up slowing everyone down, including me.

Bit impatient of me perhaps, but why not wait next to another cyclist (me) already there? It's better and safer to be in the queue behind the first vehicle or three, everyone has a better and less stressful transit across the junction that way.

Perhaps, but really, as an HGV driver, he should have known not to even try. The cyclist did ride rather like a James Blunt if you ask me. I don't think I would have gone past that HGV in that situation.

In that case I'm a bit impatient too
