Cyclist and HGV video

If I assume EMD's camera is like my ATC2k, he's left a much bigger gap than you think.

Oh, fair enough, Mikey. He just looked awfully close when stopped / starting off at the junction.

It does irritate me when I've stopped behind a vehicle at some traffic lights because it's pointless and anti-social to go to the front, and then some blunt of a cyclist wobbles up to the front. He/she then ends up slowing everyone down, including me.

Bit impatient of me perhaps, but why not wait next to another cyclist (me) already there? It's better and safer to be in the queue behind the first vehicle or three, everyone has a better and less stressful transit across the junction that way.

Depends on the junction - at some I want the advantage to get across before the cars trying to turn .. the advantage of the ASL's are as a cyclist I start faster over the first 10/20 metres. Or my first junction that I get to everyday, has a queue of over 100 m and if I joined the back of the line I would have to wait 2 whole light sequences to get out (to then travel 40 meters to the next red!). But no its not worth doing it at all junctions.

I think the lorry driver certainly gave that guy some space and at least realised he couldn't overtake safely before that.

TBH I misjudged how fast the HGV was pulling away and did get too close, but not dangerously close (I think!).

The HGV driver did give him a load of room, but on the first overtake I wasn't sure what he was doing as the lane has already narrowed to a single lane and there's a traffic island, so there was no way he was ever going to get past safely.

The camera is tilted a bit too low, EMD - a few degrees higher would give a better perspective IMO.
