It's a pity the gas chambers were dismantled. They could have come in handy. There's a fair few I'd have no qualms whatsoever sending to them. Scum such as these who carried out this attack for a start, receiving a special escort . Second thoughts just shoot them, far more economical. The fact that this acutally isn't done is all part of namby pamby modern Britain.

Was the fact that the victim was a cyclist at all relevant? They might have just attacked the next person to come along.

I dont think it was relevant. People like that prey on lone people and it could have been a guy at a bus stop or a woman walking home on her own.

We've had a situation near there before where about 20 lads approached two young guys at a bus stop in the early hours and tried to kick them to death. We've had guys at cash points just kick off. Several rapes. Its not just the boy racers, Southampton seems to be slowly atracting these types.

I was in Soton this weekend.
(Didn't see any naked cyclists.)
I just picked up my son after his first year at the University there. There was a lot of evidence of people drinking just to pass the time with an additional complement of people drinking because they support England in the football, which is as good a reason as any.
(After England's performance they'll be drinking to forget.)

I think so, but you are right they would have had a go at anyone probably. But it demonstrates another vulnerability of travelling by bike, especially at times and locations where there are likely to be thugs about. Something to bear in mind for some people maybe.

The supermarkets make a fortune from the cheap drink here. Football or no football.

In these circumstances, I think I'd fancy my chances of getting away if I was on my bike more than just running.

Horrible thing to do. The knowledge you're about to take a serious kicking and there's nothing you can do about it. Somehow more shocking that a girl was involved.
