Very sad, crushed by a HGV it seems. I know the junction. Its a no-leftturn but the whole area is a PITA for cycling and I avoid it like the plague.

Holy c*ck, I used to live right there, and Northam bridge was one of my possible routes into town when I was commuting to the General a few weeks ago. Thankfully I decided against it.

Shows that HGV's aren't just a menace in Londres even if that is the main place that national media look for news.

According to the comments it was a young girl.

Last HGV/lorry incident with a cyclist that I know of that happened down here was a lorry driver that pulled out without looking, and that was quite some time ago.

Cycle past there quite often between City & Bitterne. Agree its a dangerous area, the layout & lots of lorries about in that area.

That really is a shame, RIP.

Without detracting from the issue, I don't believe that many think that is the case that HGVs are only a menace in London (it would seem that many would not even deem it a problem.) If it were taken up as an issue across the country then that would be ideal. Perhaps a rallying call for the CTC or some national body.

Lots of yards around the St Marys stadium.. so lots of lorries and such as a result... even if I go past at 7am I'm extra cautious for that reason.

A few flowers there today on the corner opposite the pub. I noticed a cop stopping and asking people questions as my bus went past.
