Someone going by the name of Jeremy Clarkson used to post on the Cycling Plus forum. He used to have hilarious spats with one of the other members, who eventually got himself banned because he always blew up after trying to hold it together for a while.

I'd say we just need to do the same to the likes of Clarkson, but then their career is so dependent on them hating as much as possible that's seen as 'good' I doubt they'd want to risk enjoying it.

I read the original article and its less of a rant by a 'cyclist hating journo' than the TheUrbanCountry article would have you believe, it actually highlights problems we create for ourselves, if not looking at the reasons for that.

So perhaps a little wrong to call it as a cyclist hating journo seeing the light but rather it is seemingly well informed journos meeting halfway to consider each others perspectives.

Good read

No, I dont think that you understand.

If you suggest that there is a possibility that cyclists sometimes contribute to the problems that exist then you deserve whats coming to you.

No room here for compromise.

I'd agree with Twickenham that Clarkson the 'tv man' is actually a lot different to Clarkson in RL. I've got a few of his books and he does do things you wouldnt expect such as home grown food.

Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned Clarkson.

The impartiality and integrity of most journalists espousing anti cyclist sentiments have to be questioned. If they were writing bland and non contentious columns, their readership would plummet. It's a 'sponsored' issue.

Cyclists are an easy target. There's no PC issues that would make it easier for the hack to have his/her writing attacked by all and sundry.

Another of the medya "cyclists haters", James Martin, said he had bought a full suss downhill MTB.

Maybe it'll come in handy for his career...boom tish!

Err maybe, maybe not  He's certainly a marmite character but I'd regard someone like that Guardian fellow that advocates piano wire across cycle lanes as more dangerous. In clarksons own words "I don't have any influence over what people do, I really don't. It makes no difference what I say. Top Gear is just fluff. It's just entertainment – people don't listen to me."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Clarkson#cite_note-The_Daily_Mail-61
