On the Gloucester Road - well used by cyclists. The local rag carries the news

http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/home...ision-car/article-1720263-detail/article.html

along with the usual commentaries including such helpful quotes as:

Pedestrians do not need Hi-Vis to cross the road, because they should ALWAYS be crossing on a zebra, pelican, or toucan crossing.
FACT.
Mike Ford
Unfortunately this idiot actually writes for the paper!!!! And incites a lot of the anti-cyclist hate in Bristol.

It sounds as if the car was turning right into a local supermarket car-park. Apparently the cyclist has serious head injuries. Wishing him the best for a speedy recovery.

You didnt see the comment Ford left around 10.30am, then? It was removed pretty sharply and seemed to suggest the poor guy deserved it (I think it was Ford, but for parity I could be wrong)

I posted about this on the 'radar site after someone posted about the horrible hit and run in Reading.

No I didn't - but I can imagine what it was like - why is he allowed to get away with it I don't understand. I wasn't on the Gloucester Road today either - however I know lots of cyclists who do cycle along there so hoping its not someone I know either by name or just nod (not meaning I wish ill on the cyclist if I don't know them).

Is it worth putting in a complaint about this guy's conduct, I doubt the paper would appreciate his postings if they're that offensive?

Any newspaper/forum/website etc I'm a member of.. if I come across offensive material I will report it. I'm not a member there though.

I take interest in places like Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford as they could be the template for my city oneday.

From what I've read else where its partially done as a way of bumping up readership numbers - but I suspect those are his actual views. As a result I don't tend to go looking at the site unless I'm after a particular bit of information in the first place.

Is this your own personal city downfader....
