A good friend of mine posted the following on facebook, thought I'd post it here too as there is a wide userbase and lots in the Lincoln/Spalding area.
A mate of my good friend lost his son to a hit and run incident last night at around 9pm, on the A151 Bourne Rd, between the Monks House Lane crossroads and Pode Hole. The vehicle involved is believed to be a van which collided with the cyclist, knocking him into a ditch where he was left to die alone. Anybody with any information, please ring 101 and quote incident 9 of September 15th.

Lincolnshire Police are interested to hear of any vehicle with unexplained front/side damage sustained last night.

If you know anything please ring, if not but you may have fb friends connected to the Lincolnshire/Spaulding area, please repost. Any information that could possibly bring the driver to justice would be much appreciated, no matter how insignificant it may seem!

Sad times indeed. I hope the driver is found quickly, or even better turns themselves in.

Best wishes in finding the van driver, though i don't know why they hit then run. The law takes a dim view on drivers who leave the scene of an accident, whereas if he'd have stayed to give his details to the police he'd have been treated well as cyclist deaths are pretty much irrelevant under British law!

Yes i know, but i'm sarcastically saying that even if the drivers are any, even many of the above then it doesn't matter, as we don't count!

Stick around after you've knocked that uninsured, non taxed, inconvenience of a contraption off the road, the law is on YOUR side remember. Just remember to tell the jury that "you showed remorse" and that "you've been having sleepless night since", and you've even "contemplated suicide". That should get you off with a nice 200 quid fine and a suspended sentence!

Terrible news & something I mentioned was my biggest fear on a different thread.

I wish we could change the law/culture in this country so cyclists are more respected.

Hope they find the driver ASAP. Condolences to the family.

Unbelievable, the road described above has houses almost all the way along one side between the points described above, and no-one heard or saw anything???

And it took the poor lad's family to mount the search and find him???

that must be horrible to find your loved one like that. Hope the driver get's charged with manslaughter although I know that won't bring the victim back
