yikes, i live just around the corner from there, I heard and saw the air ambulance come down whilst I was getting ready this morning. I cycle onto the main highstreet and although there was a bit of a traffic jam, I had no idea that had happened less then 100 feet away. Terrible news, gives you a shiver up your spine. Wonder if it was anyone I meet and greet on my commute

From the picture it looks like it happened in the outside lane on a straight stretch and not the usual left hook we expect from lorries.

RIP and another family and friends devastated ...

The report does not mention a cyclist - it could have been a pedestrian.

It may surprise some, but more pedestrians than cyclists are killed on London's roads by HGVs.

I viewed it about 5 mins ago, and it deffinetly metioned cyclists, in several places.

Then it sounds like the initial reports were confused/misleading - this often happens in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy. It may take time to establish if it was a pedestrian or cyclist.

R.I.P.

odd. the original post def said cyclists, and in the update pages, when the story first came in it said pedestrian. If a cyclist then maybe overtaking a bus in the buslane, or if a pedestrian, prob cutting out between the busses. the ammount of people who jump out from inbetween the busses on the highstreet is a nightmare.

Simon, I don't think this is the time or place for speculation as to what might have caused the collision.

oh shut up, why do people always get on their high horses about speculation
Sorry, some of us are a little old fashioned about respect for the dead in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy.

And a criticism of the reporter. I have both the earlier and later reports in my browser atm. They both have the same timestamp (11:25). Now that's naughty if you have a running story. The BBC are usually very careful to update the timestamp when modifying a story.
