Cyclist Plays Chicken With Lorry

In the analogy with the car it was a reversal of roles to highlight a bug bear of mine where cars attempt to race me into a pinch point so cyclist on left, car on right. I still don't feel that using a scooter in the cyclist's place with the truck is meaningful due to the differences in power.

I hear what your saying about power differences, however, it is irrelevant as the cyclist over took the wagon safely.

The fact that a scooter, car, Ferrari, Harley Davidson could have out powered a speeding wagon is again irrelevant as they too would have had no choice but to use the opposite side of the traffic island.

I'm not saying that the cyclist made the right choice but still that doesn't excuse the behaviour of the wagon driver.

We'll just have to disagree I think. I don't think the lorry driver did anything wrong whereas I think the cyclist put himself/herself in danger for no good reason. It just isn't worth messing about with a vehicle that size.

Personally I agree, I'd not have done the manoeuvre. However, I think it's unfair that the cyclist got slated so unfairly. If I'd have been driving the wagon (or a car for that matter) I'd have let him pass and not risked a human getting hurt because I'd some imaginary point to prove

I don't see how a scooter is relevant. A cyclist doesn't have the power or the acceleration of a scooter. The cyclist attempted to overtake a long vehicle on a road full of pinch points when he didn't have the power or the ability to do so.

That cyclist didn't. Some of us can accelerate faster than a scooter

Cyclist is a nobber. The beep was just a warning that the truck was passing, good job as it was a double length one. Cyclist had no reason to pass. Idiot, and he didn't have enough speed

Thats why I thought, it was a pre-caution by the lorry driver to let him know a long vehicle was overtaking, not sure why though the lorry slowed right down. Cyclist reading out the reg plate just shows he was being a knob.
