So this is my take on this, driver is probably an aggressive driver but not an aggressive person. So he/she does that silly move into the cycle box, queue angry cyclist and the drivers gets scared and shoots off, possibly running over the cyclists foot. Cyclist is now super angry and goes on the chase. He gets right up to the window say "Grrrrrr" and whatever, drivers is intimidated so protective passenger get out and punches cyclist. The End (True Story)

I hadnt spotted that it was a passenger.
That does change things a bit, as the passenger had nothing to do with the driving and wasnt being shouted at, they cant use @CopperCyclist self defense arguement.

Getting out of the car is stupid, it escalates, there's no way it's anything other than making the situation worse, words can't harm someone sitting in a metal box.

Easy to say but I could shoot up many people if i got right up to their window and started shouting at them.

The bloke who got out wasn't being shouted at. I guess the lesson is you drop someone straight away if they get out of the car.

No he wasnt, could have just been an angry man, or OVER protective of the driver, I dunno. Lesson is dont stick your neck out unless you wanna risk getting chinned, or what you said.

I think the lesson is that its best not to start shouting in the first place.
