And there is the key. I'm unlikely to get a cyclist overtake me too closely at 40mph whilst on their mobile. And I've yet to see a cyclist negotiating traffic whilst reading a book.

I think you have mistaken it for uranus (not often you get to use that one).

I saw 2 at the same time last week.
I was out for a lunch-time stroll along Great Eastern Street in London. One RLJ at about 30 mph and just missed another come along Tabenacle Street and cross GE Street by the green toocan crossing doing a similar speed. I don't even think the cyclist crossing the road saw the other one.

Every morning and every evening I see as many cyclists behaving like idiots as I do behaving sensibly.

Yesterday evening was a case in point. There was a police motorcylist waiting on the lane separators at the middle of the road at a junction, in full POLICE regalia. A cyclist waltzed through the red light immediately in front of him. You can guess the sequel.

I often see idiot cyclists on the phone, or going against traffic in the bus lane, or going too bloody fast through crowds of pedestrians and skaters, ringing their bells, and shouting get out of my way. Makes me angry!!!
