Can anyone shed any light on the bad news I heard this morning? Whilst I was out on a ride yesterday(sunday), the road from Barnet to Potters Bar was closed by the Police. This morning I hear that a lorry had gone into a group of cyclists and one, possibly more had been killed. I can't find out any info, could those of you who are more computer literate than me have a look?

Even the Barnet and Whetstone Press website has nothing yet. But why would you need to know?

Sad news especially when it's so close to home, and a route that I use occasionally.

The ice was awful in Bristol yesterday. We had the air ambulance attend our club ride after a pile up on the ice, with three people hospitalised. Happily, they've been discharged. I survived unscathed, until within 100 yards of home, a motorbiker turned straight across the front of me, sending me over the bars. Damage was mainly to clothing - I'll be ringing her with the bill shortly.

A friend came off her bike yesterday first thing ... I wasn't out till later so didn't realise it had been bad, and just assumed she had hit an isolated bit of ice.

It was bad in the Coventry area yesterday as well. Lanes covered in hoar frost with frozen puddles hidden underneath, caused several leery moments though I managed to keep it rubber side down

Was out over the Mendips and on the A38 starting out in Clevedon yesterday and have to say it wasn't so bad. Sorry to hear that down the road it was an entirely different story...

The main roads were okay - it was when we turned onto the lanes that we hit trouble.

Barnet,
Thanks for the information guys, There were many cyclists out on sunday morning and it was very icy. I was curious to find out if it was anyone I knew. Call it morbid maybe.

Very sad news! I went along that road approx 11.00 (there is a Radio control club on the way to Enfield) and there was nothing there, as you said, on Sundays especially, there are always loads and loads of bikers out. Could have had something to do with the M25 being shut (anti clockwise)(oil spill) and the roads were busier.
