Cyclists hold up cars, don't they?

No one has mentioned that the car was probably trying to get into lane? and could of possibly kept behind you, but decided that s/he had plenty of time to get past you of which they did.

Yes, it does annoy me that a driver will just undertake you, while your heading towards a red light...and will get no further forward (pointless)!

I've seen worse, but a nice pace with your new bike!

You're getting quicker Maggers, nothing like bunking into the outside lane and putting the hammer down: I still worry about your blood pressure though

On the way back tonight I noticed the road did have a slight downhill (it isn't much though, perhaps 1.5mph much) at that section, and there may have been a tailwind....ah who cares, I just enjoyed the moment!

(Coming the other way tonight I was managing a more human 20mph:smile:)

Related to mags video of 'must get past' mentality and an annoyingly pointless overtake. I had wvm follow me down a bus lane for 30 seconds, where he obviously shouldn't have been, before he overtook me to get to the red traffic lights a couple of hundred metres further on. Bus lane ends just before junction to become a left filter lane (I was going straight on).

Just had to roll past him into ASL to make a point (probably lost on him). If I'd been going left myself I'd normally wait in the usually short queue, but could have made an exception this time.

Mags> That is one of the best sections of road around here

If you get through the cross without having to stop (and don't have a headwind), it's a pure delight! Though I have to admit to not remembering ever overtaking a moving bus down there...

I'd actually defend overtaking before traffic lights, if it's done safely. It may apepar pointless to overtake someone and then stop shortly afterwards, but often (especially in a big vehicle) the driver may know that there's nowhere safe to overtake for a while after the traffic lights and that if s/he can avoid the cyclist coming back down the inside (which is also a pretty pointless overtake, or undertake) then s/he won't need to overtake them all over again. That's why I do it, anyway, and why I sometimes get a little annoyed with cyclists creeping down the inside of my trailer in order to make a point.:birthday:

He was in a bus lane during the bus lane operating hours where he shouldn't have been in order to jump a queue of traffic. Sure you wouldn't do that;). It's actually a junction I'm quite careful on the approach to as it's 2 lanes, left filter and straight on. Left turners do have a habit of nipping out of the right hand lane into the bus lane to get to the left hand filter, which is about 5/6 cars long after the end of the bus lane. After the lights it's 1 lane straight on + parking bays / door zone cycle lane .

I do agree with you on your points though, don't have a problem being overtaken safely and quite happy to wait in queue if turning left as the road is quite narrow with not much overtaking room that way. There is a lead-in to the ASL for going straight on but as traffic going straight on is in right hand lane there isn't any conflict there sitting in front of the left turners.
Hope that made sense. Majority are well behaved, just this one who was being a cock.
