Any one know about these? Im thinking of getting a portable but know nothing of reception. My present Xfi doesnt tune in some areas. Will this be similar for Dab or is there a marked improvement? Cheers.

I've been very happy with my DAB portable in Leeds. So much so that I am considering replacing my FM portable in my shed with a DAB.

I thought we would get it in Hebden Bridge when TV switched over to digital in September, but no.

I'm happy with FM in my kitchen, and have also started listening to radio stations via my new Freeview box and the TV.

We've got a portable and it's great. Mrs UD's new car is coming with one fitted; will be interesting to see how that goes.

Quality here is excellent but battery life is pathetic.

It means you can get R4 Extra too. Francis Durbridge thrillers, Round the Horn, Hancock's Half hour etc

As mentioned above, sound quality iffy and batteries run down quicker.

I just use it for R4 Xtra and 5Live Xtra. For music then it's FM all the way.

3 years ago we went up to the Orkney's (Westray) for summer hols. Tinterweb said DAB reception was none existent but turned out to be much better than FM :becool: .
Go for it. Even if DAB is not in your area then it soon will be and the FM receiver is usually built in as well.

Only ever used mine plugged in but the sound quality is blinding. And it can pick up signals where a normal radio can't (tho' that's probably a quirk of where I happen to be rather than a universal rule).
