Picked up my Long Haul Trucker frame yesterday - the bike shop have done some preparation for me (fitting headset cups &c).

One of the things they've done is to face the BB shell - my original intention was to fit a standard square taper bb (and use my old cranks on this frame).

If I do that, do I need to worry about the exposed steel on the BB shell faces? Would I be better off fitting a hollowtech BB straight away so the faces are covered?

It will be fine mate

loads of grease on the bb thread will squish out over the faces anyway, and protect the steel. What colour did you get?

Olive - I like the truckaccino too, but;
a) They didn't have my size (I know they could order one in, but a bike in the hand...)
:biggrin: I don't think I can carry off a cream coloured bike...

Uncle Phil - looking at my BB (currently on the Giant SCR2) it seems to have one side with a flange (non-drive side), and one without.

That will be correct - it's the non drive side that doesn't have the flange. Drop some clear laquer on it if you can't find a colour match.
