Daftest headline I've seen in a long time.

You may have heard about the peculiarly unpleasant and nasty form of food poisoning which is on the rampage in Germany at the moment. It has now generated one of the best headlines I've ever seen (reported 5 mins ago on a German website):

The nineteenth dead person has also not survived.

(Auch der neunzehnte Tote hat nicht überlebt.)

Came across a little story in the York Press from last week. The headline was something like "Woman hit in face by fruit thrown from car". The story below fleshed this out with the details that the car was a silver Corsa, and the passenger threw a piece of soft fruit at her, causing reddening of the side of her face.

Just another bit of yobbishness, but the detail, and desparation to make something big out of it was amusing. I assume the reddening of the face was due to impact, and not the juice of the soft fruit in question. Or embarrassment at being the victim of such a fruitarian crime.

A couple of weeks back, there was a story about a tea towel catching fire after being left on a hob. The householder extinguished it before the firebrigade arrived, but it was reported that the tea towel was damaged....
