As a newly single man, i'm getting right back in the saddle (as they say) so have signed myself up to a well known and heavily advertised dating website.

At a stupid price for one month(i'm confident)

Just looking, there are in fact an incredibly amount of nice looking women on there.

Anybody else on a dating site or got stories they can share.

(and i am looking up cycling as a keyword!)

I've never used them myself but I have quite a few friends who use Match.com and mysinglefriend. My sister recently attended the wedding of two people who met on mysinglefriend and at least one of my close friends is in a long-term relationship with someone off Match.

My friends are attractive and successful they just don't have sociable hobbies, work full-time and don't want to get into the picked me up in a bar scene. None of them cycle unfortunately.

Good luck.

Wasn't in Cheshire last Saturday was it?

I agree that if you're not into the club scene you need to increase your chances of meeting the right person; you can't just leave it to chance. Many wouldn't want to go out with somebody who frequented pubs and clubs anyway. So this new-fangled online dating thing seems just the ticket although in my day you placed a personal ad in The Times....

I think you need to get them cycling and on a Fnrttc or one of our local ones!. Promise them cake and fit, wealthy and healthy blokes in lycra they can perv over! And of course, if they have a mechanical, us men dont mind getting a bit dirty for a good course...

I've watched my business partner going through umpteen dating sites and paying out a good sum of cash for over 2 years for............nothing, zippo, nada! I'm convinced most are scams or scammish at best.

He has though met a few women from cycling with me on the Leeds/Liverpool canal, particlularly at The George beer garden in Bingley;)

I met my partner 7 years ago on datingdirect - back in the days when online dating was a little less common.

I know lots of people for whom it has worked. My advice would be to be 100% honest about your expectations. If you want a woman into cycling, be really specific about it otherwise her "I love cycling" will be a 3 mile ride to a pub, whereas yours will be 60 miles on a Sunday morning.

GO for it!

Hmmmmmmmm

The vast majority of my female friends think it's shocking and hilarious in equal measure that I go out in lycra, turn up to after work drinks a bit sweaty and am practical enough to change an inner tube.

I'm afraid ladies like us are thin on the ground.... and I'm taken.

I suffer from quite a bit of "proudness" when am out drunk in lycra, dunno why.. guess its cause I can show my usually covered up legs off!

Its a shame its not warmer so they could all come up with out wrapping up in layers of lycra and really enjoy what us cyclist love! I still think you need to work on them... hehe!

Alas, your true there! Not on the your taken part I mean!

Oooops, weve gone completely off topic! My fault!

Right, well i was lining up for the FNRttc this week but am doing my own little london - worthing trek on sunday instead.

I won't be putting up any photos on the dating website of me in lycra yet.

Might try mysinglefriend.com also. but not spending a lot of money on these things.

Doing speed dating next week! that should be a laugh.

Speeddating....? if being the object of derision by tanked up women as you drag your feet from one interview to the next before they get even more tanked up to go clubbing is your bag...;)
I dont think it is taken seriously.
not that I have done it of course;)

Go to the supermarket. All women go there, everyone needs to eat. If you 'bump' into anyone nice just go back the next week, most people go to the supermarket on the same day every week.

A recently heard quote about online dating:

" The odds are good, but the goods are odd" ;)

Seriously though, give it a try and have fun along the way. You WILL meet some strange ones, but also some good ones. And if she isn't right move onto the next one, don't delude yourself or her.
