When I was a copper I dealt with a female victim on 4 occasions in 3 years for incidents of domestic violence. Each incident was with a DIFFERENT partner.

I don't think they are scams in general at all. What they are is a utility designed to increase your frequency of meeting people of a similar mindset to yourself. This is valuable for those of us who find it very difficult to meet women through more conventional means (for myself, it is a combination of non-standard interests and a generally full lifestyle).

The probability of a relationship forming from any one particular woman you meet at random is very low (unless you have a really magnetic personality), so you have to meet lots of women in order to give yourself a decent chance of having a relationship.
