I am looking forward to it (mostly). I reckon we've done a pretty good job and he is definitely ready to go but your life revolves around your kids for so long it is going to be a bit weird.
It's a life event, nothing more.
And as you said, if you've done "a pretty good job" then there should be no need to be anything other than happy. I just don't get the "worried" stuff.

He'll still cost you a fortune! ;)

My Daughters first day in reception at the local school tomorrow. Ive got the day off work so will be able to take her along with my wife.

My daughter is so ready for it and has been asking since last week when is she going to school.

She was a little quiet when i got home from work this evening but is still looking forward to it.

Me on the other hand........

It seems like yesterday.

My youngest has just finished her A levels and is off to work for an airline next month....all three gone

My Daughter went to university, it was emotional saying goodbye, then she went to live / marry in Australia it was very emotional, now we have a four year old who started full time school a week ago, he was emotional, my wife couldn't take him for his first day so I took him. At arrival at school there was only momentary hesitation then he disappeared into school and has eagerly looked forward to every day since.
@Jamieyorky daughters are always the hardest to let go, as a dad of one daughter I can empathise, my daughter is the apple of my eye, she can do no wrong and I cherish every moment I spend with her (when I get the chance) I love my sons just as much but daughters take your heart. (read as daughter wraps dad around her little finger)
What is a daughter.
She's a joy, she's an angel- well that's what she thinks
She clings on to your heart like a plug to a sink
She drives you all crazy with make believe games
She'll have you believe that fairies fly planes

She often comes in with imaginary friends
And can draw on their dads with permanent pens
She has pretty parties with dolls as her mates
But then runs straight out and she swings on the gate

She listens to stories of love and romance
Then shoves a live frog in her best friend's pants
At night when asleep the angels go quiet
I often do think that she could start a riot

She looks like a princess all said and done
And uses mum's lipstick to draw a big sun
All over the walls and down the settee
Her face is alive and she giggles with glee

It's then that you have to be strong and quite firm
For if you stand back she will never quite learn
And learn things she does most every day
She learns how to get things her very own way

She came into your life and captured your heart
And then from that time you won't stay apart
You may keep your son till he finds a good wife
But your daughter's your daughter for all of her life

Yesterday went great. She was a bit quiet but was fine. When she came home she said "my friend at school was crying a lot today, but i looked after her "

Bless her.

My little girl started reception yesterday, too.

She is in the SEN unit in the primary school which her elder sister attends (in year 6). She's been all excited about going, but as we got to the gate she declared "I'm bored of Red Class", and ran off in the opposite direction...

A few tears when we eventually cajoled her to go in, but she seems to have settled in OK, thankfully.
