Can't stand Bowie, his music and as for his acting, he makes Micheal Caine look good.

To be fair, I thought Bowie was good as Pontius Pilate in the Last Temptation of Christ. I didn't recognise him because he'd dyed his hair black and I thought he was good. I think Michael Caine is good too when he's actually trying to act, and not just being Michael Caine.

Micheal Caine is a film star, not an actor, David Bowie is businessman not an Artist/Musician.

To listen to the music press you'd think Bowie's come back was the Second Coming and every utterance from his lips some form of high art.

It might be me, but I'm just not getting it, vaguely interesting pop music yes... but there's others better (and not to mention younger).

Now where did I put my Justin Bieber album?

Bieber and Bowie in the same post?. I have a strange feeling that Bieber will be long forgotten in a matter of months, whereas Bowie has cleverly managed to adjust his image and his music over the years and moved with the times. I like his music but wouldn't go so far as to say I am a Bowie fan. I was born in 1962 so his music has been with me through my teenage years (Space Oddity, Rebel Rebel, The Man Who Sold The World etc. etc.) into early adulthood (Ashes to Ashes, Blue Jean, Under Pressure) and up to the present day.
Like others have said, some of his stuff is excellent, some not so great.
Like when?
Kidnapped - forgot he wasn't Scottish.
Zulu - forgot he wasn't posh.
Get Carter - well nasty.
Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels - well suave.

My 3 favorite Bowie tracks. the rest of his work although better than a lot of the mainstream drivel, to me is not outstanding.

Well l for one have always liked Bowie. Can't say I like his new album though. I thought the Lets Dance album was ok...and lifted by the guitar work of the great late Stevie Ray Vaughan.

No! Can't stand the bloke. A documentary came on the TV about him last night and I couldn't dive fast enough for the remote to turn him off!!!
Sorry to sit on the fence on this one

Barnet,
His early stuff was pretty good. I think that now it is a case of the Emporers new clothes. The music industry and hangers on are saying how wonderful the new stuff is, but really it is just ordinary pop music and nothing to get hung up about.
