David Cameron jumps lights - bad reporting

David Cameron has been accused of joining cycling's growing army of 'Lycra louts' who openly flout the rules of the road after he was snapped riding through a red light.

The Tory leader, who sparked controversy last year with his 'hug a hoodie' speech, breached the Highway Code as he cycled home through London's Notting Hill. And although he had a helmet with him, Mr Cameron decided not to wear it - leaving it dangling from his handlebars.

n pictures taken on Wednesday evening in Portobello Road, Mr Cameron approaches the crossroads at Westbourne Park Road with the lights signalling him to stop. Then he edges across the white line, despite the red light and, finally, crosses the yellow-box junction with the lights still on red.

Hugh Bladon, of the Association of British Drivers, said: 'All cyclists must obey the rules of the road. It does not matter who they are.'

But a Conservative spokesman commented: 'Mr Cameron was riding extremely carefully.'

Fair cop, but what an appallingly biased, ill informed report!

As for asking the ABD for a quote on cycling?

[I've heard this is not true, and it's not him because you can only see the back of his head./QUOTE]

..and the fact that a Conservative party spokesman has confirmed it in the same article doesn't convince you?

And its bad reporting Spen because its littered with comments that have no bearing on the story in hand, they are just thrown in to create a base (negative) emotional response. That's why the Mail is a newspaper for sad, frustrated people.

Saturday in the Daily Mail:
Hugh Bladon, of the Association of British Drivers, said: 'All cyclists must obey the rules of the road. It does not matter who they are.'

Today in the Daily MAil when asked about enforcing parking restrictions the same spokesman declared:

"Its a Jihad against freedom of movement"

Come on.....

You can't have it both ways!

Enforcement should NOT be selective.

He was just practising in case he becomes PM. When Tony Blair was asks what difference no longer being PM had made to him, one of his comments was that he couldn't get used to his driver stopping for red lights!
