Dawes Galaxy problem

I want to replace the brake levers on my old Galaxy to something more comfortable with rubber top grips (no gear change needed - orig.Weinmann caliper brakes)
My budget is around about £20/pair. I've been looking at these ergo brakes.

Yup, them 'uns will do nicely. You might want to disable the SLR function, ie remove the lever return spring. Shi**no introduced their 'Linear Response' system a good few years after your Wiennemans were manufactured. Before SLR the spring in the brake caliper was expected to return the caliper to it's resting position AND pull the cable back AND pull the lever back. SLR brake levers have a return spring in the lever, allowing a correspondingly lighter spring in the caliper. Your heavy duty old caliper springs don't need the SLR lever spring. All they'll do is increase the effort required at the lever.
