My wonderful (ex)father in law is giving up cycling & gifting me his old Dawes .... its bronze (ish?) with light blue panels & bright blue popular mudguards. Its got five speed derailleur with courier centrepull brakes, 27" wheels (32h & 40h) This is the picture he sent me, he thinks he's bought it sometime in the 70's. I can't make out the name on the top tube, anyone know which model? How old? Is it 531? Hopefully should pick it up next week

Courier 66's ...this early galaxy is a similar weird colour combo but vanquers and chrome forks -same high flange wheels but different chainset

@Daddybus depending on make of chainset you might be able to date that item

I found a site which said that GB Courier 66's were from 1960 onwards.

The 32/40 spoke wheels, ornate torch headbadge & the GB callipers etc would all suggest 60's to me too ...the suicide GB levers look a bit 70's (tho I admit I'm not sure how far dual levers date back to...)

Hi Daddybus! I've had a look at a pair of my GB Synchrons and they have a date stamp in the front if you look at the rear mounting bracket.
