You can get superb 'old' type tvs (CRT) on freecycle for nothing. They come up all the time.

Happy Days - had it confirmed that the TV is covered under warranty:wahhey:. I knew it should be, and I had the retention part of the form I'd returned in '08, but apparently I should have received a certificate, and never had . Anyway, I spoke to the Panasonic warranty dept yesterday and the lass I spoke to was fantastic. She simply checked my postcode and immediately confirmed it registered and covered, and within a minute had emailed me a copy of the certificate as well. She gave me a number of a local service agent, and the TV is being collected tomorrow

Yey. Once you get it back the 'ear bending' will stop hopefully ! We've got a Panasonic 100hz CRT Flatscreen that won't break. I fancy a new LED TV

we got a new sofa after i broke one watching Wales beat Scotland 2 years ago. when 3D LCD becomes affordable the current LCD will "break"

Ah, isn't it great when you get someone like that who sees you as a customer and his/her job is to try and help you rather than weasel out of it to save the company money, or because they can't be arsed to help!

I had a 17" Idek Iyama CRT PC monitor in the days when they still cost over £500 and it went wrong about 2 weeks out of warranty. I wasn't hopeful, but I rang the UK distributor and a helpful woman took the details. I had a sinking feeling when she asked for the purchase date ...

Me: "It was xx/yy/zzzz."
Her: "Hmm, that is 2 weeks out of warranty."
Me: "Er, yes, I suppose so."
Her: "Never mind, I'll put it down as xx/yy+1/zzzz to get it through our system! Your Return number is ..."

My Roberts radio went wrong 14 months into its 12 month warranty. They sent me a post-paid sticker to put on the box, and I had it back, good as new, inside a week.
