Dear Simon Mayo, Radio 2....

Are you in a decent enough mobile area that you can stream the radio through your phone? It's the main reason I pay an extra £5 on my PAYG to get all I can eat data

I stream to my phone and thought I had cracked the lack of digital radio in my car for radio 5 and 5 live (cricket, football etc) by bluetoothing it to my car stereo (up there for thinking... down there for dancing) until I drove the car and it lost the data connection and went off... my smug feeling quickly went!

What is this 'radio' thing of which you speak ?

I still have my very expensive short wave radio which when I used to travel a lot in the 1980's and 90's, was a life saver. However since the invention the the internet and global access from anywhere that has electricity I no longer use it. We don't have any other radios in the house any more

I like Ken Bruce best.....he is very humourous and I like his banter with Lynn Bowles and she has real dirty laugh at times....Sally traffic can be a bit saucy when she wants

Ken Bruce says a lot of words twice twice especially when he is talking to pop master contestants contestants.

I dislike the trend of replacing the DJ with celebrity presenters, I want to hear music not banal banter.

Some stuff still isn't on the world wide wait yet- North Korea's voice of Korea for example. Their daily programme in English on short wave is a weird throwback to the likes of radio Moscow in the 70's. they have a rather 'unique' take on world affairs! But still preferable to Radio 2.

Also, the Voice of the People's Islamic Struggle for Eritrea. I haven't yet caught that one but The station name just trips of the tongue. The breakfast show DJ must be a right laugh.

If the O.P. likes older music- Nostalgia on 747am (medium wave) is OK (from Hilversum). They call it the Jumbo channel- those cray Dutch. Only available on the east side of the UK really though until dark when you can get it anywhere.

Whilst Radio 2 is not my cup of tea it is infinitely preferable to the dreadful Radio 1 daytime shows. Can be good from about 7.30pm though.

I do realise that I am not a member of the programmers target audience and whilst I like the music played the self-obsessed presenters and their let's involve the audience playground pranks and humour is pitiful.

Coxie is probably the most palatable but her tedious references to her kids & Snoop (still alive?) spoil her.

Worst? Hard to choose between the strange haired one in the morning and the two afternooners Greg James & Scott Mills. Some time in the distant past someone must've made the fatal mistake of telling them they are humourous which they've clearly taken to heart. Sadly they are both infantile in the extreme with the pair of them capable of getting in an absolute froth over eg someone being locked in a toliet or someone getting out of bed late. Seems to be the way things are going though.

Yes, I know, I'm getting old but then newer doesn't always mean better.
