Can someone make a recommendation?

These sh*tty £10 Halfords ones I got were a nightmare to fit, but once fitted are now playing up...

Thanks

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
All mudguards are a pain to fit. It's the nature of the beast.
The reason yours are playing up is that you haven't fitted them properly. More fiddling required.
I go for SKS.

+1 for SKS....but if you're worried about fitting get them at the LBS, and get them to spend the requisite time swearing at the damn things.

It's a question of personal taste of course but i find all mudguards pretty unsightly. I use a pair from the poundshop that cost... let me think. For me they are less ugly than most, reasonably effective and surprisingly robust. There's a video here but no stock at the moment AFAICS.
