My rear tyre has been deflating quickly (about 20 psi a day, without being ridden - flat in a week). I replaced the tube, but the same thing is still happening. Any suggestions welcome?

Something sharp inside the tyre that's punctured the new tube too? A pinch puncture when refitting the tyre?

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
Faulty valve. Something embedded in the tyre or pinch puncture as above. Or just could be a tube that seeps air. Latex tubes are known for this.

^^ This. Possibly something only just big enough to hole the tube, resulting in a pinprick hole that closes at lower pressure. That makes it a swine to find the cause. Happy hunting!

Sounds obsessive, but alway align the tyre with the valve

For instance use one of the "1" in this picture

Use @the snail 's method and once you locate a puncture, lay the tube over the tyre and accurately assess where the potential cause is on the tyre

I'd just forget which 1 I'd used, so I always go for the start (left) of the manufacturer's name or logo. Take care not to reverse tyre or tube duringr removal or testing, too.

I was tempted to suggest "X marks the spot", but there are three of those.

Thanks for the feedback folks.
Did snail's bubble test and found a very small puncture in the first tube.
But couldn't find any punctures in the second tube - so it's back in, and I'll see what happens.

Cheers!

I would put money on something sharp in the tyre. Take the tyre off carefully without rotating it. Inflate the tube and locate the puncture, if needed submerge it in water to find the hole. Then use that to locate the cause in the tyre.
