Defy Advanced 2 or 3?

Hi Guys
Well after over a year on my trusted Giant Defy 3 it's time to get something new!
I have decided to stick with Giant and have boiled down my choice between a Defy Advanced 2 or 3 2012 models as I have a few sportives comming up and intend to do a lot more!!

The main difference between the two models is the group set, either Shimano 105 for the 3 and Ultegra for the 2 - My question is the 2 really worth 500 quid more over the the 3??

Whats the general concensus??

Guy i know swopped his groupset from 105 to ultegra and said he didnt notice much of a differnce, if that helps your decision.

Funnily enough had a chat with my LBS today, and basically the new 105 is the old Ultegra more or less - drip down technology was the phrase used!!
