2-3% of accidents is also about the amount that are caused by cyclists not having lights....though I bet that they'd be first on the bandwagon for getting cyclists without lights :blush:

Said bandwagon is an annual event in the same local rag.

Somebody tell this loon that no, it's like saying "if you don't rape anyone then you won't be done for rape"

So you don't know why the accident happened but think it must be an argument for speed cameras.:biggrin::biggrin: .

Don't get me wrong I am all in favour of catching those driving too fast but the cameras are now being used for revenue rather than safety imo.:blush:

(1)20 years of commuting up and down the Mile End Road has drawn me to my own conclusions yes.All those times I have seen traffic lights lying on the road.Perhaps the traffic lights were drunk.

Don't do the crime then you wont have to pay the fine.

Nooo! I just added that to the comments! Looks like I'm an idea thief now!
Which of course, I am.

Some of those comments are dumb. No surprise there, but no-one has asked the question;
Would people prefer a camera or a traffic cop at each point?

THat would be dangerous....

In Manchester they started using marked video cars to record offences.

The ABD started bleating that marked cars were dangerous as they forced drivers to look for Police vehicles, not paying attention to the road

Basically the ABD is totally against any effort to prevent their members driving like pillocks.

Here for rides.
Speed Cameras; the most easily avoided tax in the world. You just lift your right foot about 5mm and you don't get taxed. Simples.

I'd like a policeman to stand sentry at my front door. A burglar alarm does the same job and frees up the policeman to do other things.

My point was that a camera does NOT do the same job as an officer. Only a small part of it. I think most people do not feel 'taxed' when they get done by a real copper. They feel bang to rights generally.
