I use grommets on all my conversions and they work really well but i still laqueror the holes for extra ptotection. The first non Di2 frame to internal conversion I saw was done by a friend of mine when Di2 first came out, he used the grommets but did not laqueror the holes. After a period of time the carbon round the holes started to flake away slightly and started to look chipped, The bike was sent for inspection and it was stated the fibre delaminated due to moisture getting into exposed fibre over a period of time. I have not seen any frames like this since, but am paranoid and take a little extra precaution.

To do the seat post conversion you need a custom battery such as the one found at http://icaruslights.com/batteries/ or you can do it DIY style like I have which you can see in my album where there are pics of my bike with the standard battery and internal battery, you can also see pictures of the battery conversion. I now have in bike charging, sprint shifters for the drops and shifters for the bar tops. You can do loads of cool stuff with it, I have recently done a conversion which powers lights from the battery as well.... Im a massive fan of it.

Under which post of yours in your profile I can look for the pictures.

Also regarding the grommets? Can I install them as the wires are in the frame already, or do I need to disconnect them in order to insert them first through the grommet's hole?

I have changed the attachments to full images instead of thumbnails so you should be able to see them now. You can see my album by clicking my username below my avatar which brings up my profile, look under the album tab.
If you can't see that it might be your forum permissions so I would advise raising a forum thread for the admin about why this is.

Here are the pictures after the job was done. Everything running inside. The housing holes were expended to take the wires in. The chain stay was drilled in the back of it for the RD wire, the existing hole of the FD in the BB area was widen a bit to take the wires of the FD and the battery.
Comments are welcome!
