I use grommets on all my conversions and they work really well but i still laqueror the holes for extra ptotection. The first non Di2 frame to internal conversion I saw was done by a friend of mine when Di2 first came out, he used the grommets but did not laqueror the holes. After a period of time the carbon round the holes started to flake away slightly and started to look chipped, The bike was sent for inspection and it was stated the fibre delaminated due to moisture getting into exposed fibre over a period of time. I have not seen any frames like this since, but am paranoid and take a little extra precaution.
To do the seat post conversion you need a custom battery such as the one found at http://icaruslights.com/batteries/ or you can do it DIY style like I have which you can see in my album where there are pics of my bike with the standard battery and internal battery, you can also see pictures of the battery conversion. I now have in bike charging, sprint shifters for the drops and shifters for the bar tops. You can do loads of cool stuff with it, I have recently done a conversion which powers lights from the battery as well.... Im a massive fan of it.
