I went gliding at Pocklington Airfield once. Really enjoyed it.

They must do a good business in short joy rides. While we were there, there was also a group of late teen/twenty somethings, about a dozen of them, taking turns to go up for 5 minute winch launches, some of them more than once. When I went up, it was a tenner for a winch launch - good value for the enjoyment, but probably a money spinner - I suppose there's the upkeep of the glifer, but otherwise it's just the fuel for the winch and the tractor that ferries the end of the cable back to the start.

First time I went up, the pilot gave me a go at the controls, second time I just wanted to enjoy the view, so I let her do it all.

Another I've been up in a glider at 'Pock', I was very unimpressed though

However those mischief makers, make it sound a more exciting place than it is...

Was it this 'person' I snapped in Pocklington?

So you've never been to the quiz night at the Feathers? I'm told it's the place to be seen.
