Awful weather today; I had every intention of getting the bike out today for a couple of rides before re-starting the commutes to work on Thursday... Still blowing 70mph winds

Hopefully tomorrow will be better?

It was a bit wet and wild even down here for a while as it's normally pretty sheltered here. Our local news has just been saying some wheely bins were blown over in Peterborough so it must have been bad! I'm not back at work til Thursday so luckily I missed out on a soggy commute today. A quick glance at Thursay's forecast suggests I'll get my share of rough weather then!

I did my four mile commute in the wind. It was... Interesting! When you already have one knee almost down to the ground, going sideways at a row of parked vehicles is not nice.
Luckily I just missed the rain at both ends of the journey both ways!

6 mile commute for me,(3 each way). This morning must have been the most atrocious weather I've EVER cycled in. The wind was howling, the rain was being driven into my face, it felt like my lips were being tattooed! Then when I got to work I realised I'd forgotten to re-fit my rucksack cover after I'd been back in it before I left, so my bag was drenched as well
Took me until early afternoon to get everything dry, boots were sodden, but feet were dry, thank you Mr Gore-Tex
But regardless of all the above, I did it! I never felt unsafe in the wind as I was riding into rather than it being a cross wind, however, I did fear getting pushed backwards at times:wacko:
Really glad I made the effort, if I had jumped in the car I'd have felt all my good intentions were doomed and probably not even felt like bothering again tomorrow.
That said, note to Mother Nature, you've proved your point love, never doubted you and never will, now enough's enough, thank you.
Roll on tomorrow :bicycle:

Recumbent trikes are better and my 16 mile commute (2x8) was uneventful.

The problem is that I commute on the Gekko, which folds so has no fairing. The Catrike with GX is a far better machine for this weather.

Yep, although the weather was not that bad down this way,

Pretty wet and windy coming home out of Leeds.

It helped that I drafted a lady on a road bike whilst on the MTB for some of it (I couldn't pass her safely on the dual-carriageway) after she followed me up the hill into horizontal rain (I'd gone past her earlier!).

No bottled it, listened to the wind all night. Don't mind cycling in anything up to about 20 but for 25 mile commute (12.5 each way) it takes it out of me to early in the week, plus eaten loads and not been on the bike for nearly 3 weeks to much pain to add to the depression of first day of work.

Yes I managed to ride my 12 mile commute (6mi each way)

The wind was high (51mph ave, 71mph gust) but it was reasonably constant which made it rideable. On the way home it was only 36mph (gusting 56) but it was gustier so much harder going.

At least the rain had finished by the time I set off. Jusdging by the massive puddles on the route I'd guess it came down rather hard last night.

9 mile commute on MTB. Didn't seem to bad when I got the bike out of the garage. Had a fairly stiff cross wind along the cliff tops, which was fun! Then turned into a full on head wind which wasn't fun, and got soaked and filthy. Good job we got showers at work.
