It seems he didn't even have reflectors, and was drunk. Really bad for all concerned.

You had to feel sorry for the driver,she had no chance did she.A case of wrong place wrong time.

yes and a chill ran down my spine and wifey had the worried look on her face. some of J.Theakstons comments at the start of the section on the incident were a little off I thought.

sadly if you ride pissed in the dark with no lights then it is only a matter of time before death catches up with you.

yeah, I saw it, the whole thing was sickening. Whatever happened to the old 'only drive as fast as the stopping distance you know to be clear'. Did she not have headlights? And she left the scene of the crime too! 'Thought she had hit an animal'. My arse. What kind of animal would cave in the windscreen like that? Why would you not stop even if it was an animal?

I saw it and I whole heartedly agree that it was deeply unpleasant. I'm sure they didn't need to show the river of blood either!

These are always difficult.

The Police were careful to explain that due to the way the road curved that the headlights were pointing across the road as opposed to the nearside and this in turn was a contributing factor.

However fault or not I do have difficulty in seeing the damage to the car and not stopping

Difficult to feel much in the way of sympathy for the driver, in all honesty, but there but for the Grace of God, etc..

Deer have killed many drivers over the years, any animal large enough to be thrown over the bonnet instead of under it will cause that sort of damage.

If it was myself involved in a collision, I would stop though. If you've hit an animal you should at least stop to see what sort of condition it is in and whether or not the highways agency/police need to be aware of it.

quite right,and i agree with all the comments in your post and was screaming similar things at the telly.
but no reflectors , no lights, and from what we saw, dark clothing.

you wouldn't stick your fingers into a live 13A socket outlet and then blame the electrician would you ?
