The damage to the car and bicycle was so shocking.

You hit anything you stop. Completely caved in one half of the screen, and it must have been bad to split the laminate.

I'd have charged her for failing to stop if nothing else would stick. Lets hope the lass remembers this all her life - her poor driving killed someone.

The cyclist could have been totally out of his face, but she should have seen him.

Just glad I watched it on I-player on the pc with the missus out.

I find it amusing that you said 13A. So many people would mention volts. Which is obviously not the thing that kills you.

trician by trade. i know how small a current can pop u off. plus if i said socket some smartypants would ask if it was mm, whit or A/F.

SWMBO turned a whiter shade of pale watching it and when i mentioned i would be riding further each day as we move into winter she looked very uncomfortable.

I hit a dog once and stopped and called the police so yes the driver should have stopped , wifeys words were that she will have to live with what she did for the rest of her life.

polis commended her at inquest for not stopping if she thought it wasn't safe to do so according to the press reports.
I can understand someone hitting a unlit cyclist, at night on a busy dual carriageway; But what I don't get is not knowing it was a cyclist, in that last half second before impact she must have known it was another human being.
To my mind she either knowingly left the scene or she was so distracted by something else that she genuinely did not know what she hit - 24 year old female in a mini, hope they checked her mobile phone history thoroughly.
Quite !!!

Police rarely 'commend', especially in circumstances like this. You sure you don't mean the coroner? Even then I'd find it strange.

" the inquest heard how Miss Wright’s actions were praised by officers as it might not have been safe to stop where the collision took place "

from the report in the local paper. so it must be true. although maybe if there are cars wazzing along in far excess of the speed limit they could be right.

Difficult one as the cyclist was unlit, wearing black and twice the drink drive limit (pretty well pissed) so its a bit unfair to blame the car driver.

However, she should have stopped.

Wrong place, wrong time and horrible consequences.

Fair enough. I disagree strongly though. If there's a body lying on the road in front, I'm going to stop, with all my lights on, and can't possibly see how anyone could think it safer to do otherwise.

How do you know it was lying in front of her?

There are far too many unknowns in this.
