Did you know Bromptons can fold?

My wife commutes by train and Brompton..... and has done for some time.

If the train is not packed she does not fold it as the journey is short. If busy then it is folded.

Empty train this evening so unfolded - another Brompton Owner took her to one side and asked if she was aware that she could fold it as she hadn't done so and offered to show her how!

Sounds a little arrogant IMO.

As a matter of interest how long does it take to fold a Brompton? On some commuter lines there are only about two minutes between stops: you might have to start unfolding before you've finished folding....

It really depends on the tone and the manner in which it was said. As for a minute to fold a Brompton, that was roughly how long it initially took me (Ok 2 minutes) now, I can even do tricks in-between the 6 - 10 second fold.

And wait until you see me unfold unsheathe the beast.

I've recounted this story before, but I was once on the train with my non-folder, and there was an S6-L, unfolded, taking up one of the bike spaces. This got less and less convenient as more people with non-folders got on. Eventually we asked the chap with the Brompton why he hadn't folded it.

It turned out that he'd been lent the bike by a friend while his car was being repaired - he liked it, but was terrified that he'd be unable to "reconstruct" it if he folded it, and be left carrying the half unfolded bike home!

For my own part, I forgot how to fold/unfold mine within about 5 seconds of leaving the shop, and it took me a few goes to remember (it's very intuitive though).
