This is bicycles, much lighter and roadbikes usually not suspender equipped. Therefore, they don't compress and steepen their steering geometry in the manner of motorcycles (of which I have 2, remember), so the 'stand up' effect is much less pronounced . Even then, it's better to remain on 2 wheels and run wide, than lay it doen and crash. But, as mentioned, better still not to do it at all.
This is out out of both the MIAS and IPMBA advanced road skills syllabus, written in the blood of braver/more daft/less lucky people than me. I get twots telling me half wheeling is dangerous, and they clearly don't have a clue, that's the level of daftness I hear. I spent almost 9 years working up to the 2nd highest internationally recognised non sporting training ticket so I tend to speak with a little authority.
