I'm back to using os maps, I like it and thinking of buying some proper digital mapping software.there are a plethora of companies saying theirs is the best.

What do you guys recommend and use?

Edit: needs to be mac or iOS

I use MemoryMap. I bought the GB edition which has the mainland plus islands (but not NI) as one seamless 1:50,000 OS Landranger map, which I love. It is about 7 years old now so new motorways, industrial estates etc. are not shown, but 99.x% of roads haven't changed in that time so I haven't had many problems.

The software is slightly 'clunky' but it does what I want it to do.

I've just checked and they have updated the product since I bought it! What's more, the price has dropped a lot - I paid about £160 and that was a great deal at the time, but the new version is available for £100 here on the MM website.

I use mapyx's Quo. It's a free download and you can download the OS ''tiles'' you want at a reasonable price. I now have a few 1:2500 OS tiles which I tend to print out at 1:8000 because that's how bad my close-up eyesight is these days. There's also a free download of the open source maps, so if you haven't got that particular tile you can get by printing off the opencyclemaps versions.

My deteriorating eyesight is part of the reason I haven't gone for the GPS devices as I don't want to have reading glasses handy all the time. That, and I'd lose them, glasses and devices combined.

EDIT: oops, it lists M$ windows as a system requirement:sad:

Not mac compatable and they have no intentions as yet for releasing a mac version.

I tried to use Anquet on the Mac, but it is appalling

Frequent crashes, and the support consists of giving you a reference number................that's it

Since the last update it will not run on any of the Macbooks at all, and I cannot reload the earlier version either

I use the British Cycling mapping tool on their website. It offers an Ordnance Survey (OS) map view (with restrictions on scale and zooming) included in the standard membership. There's an option to upgrade to full OS use for £25 per annum, which is pro rata-ed to annual membership renewal if you're already a member. Downloading gpx files and loading them to gps is straight forward.

For Mac users, there are glitches when using BC mapping tool in Safari. I use SRWare Iron and it's fine.

ViewRanger. For iPhone or Android.

Free software. Free maps (eg OpenCycle) which are excellent, free and can be cached/downloaded to the phone so no signal needed. OS maps available not expensive.

Most importantly, support is top notch.

Any decent free digital mapping software which allows printing ?

I have had Memory Map for years, which does the job, but is really clunky and time consuming.

MapMyRide prints, but only Pro version.

Any suggestions ?
