Came off the bike not once but twice today ! first not even going fast turning to go up a slope bang! off before I could blink more unhappy at scrapes on the frame, bent hood on the handlebar, scraped handlebar tape that was it I thought.....later as I was trying to change down a gear a clunk and the rear mechanism sheared off and over I went again !:blush: I think the rear mechanism was already on the way out due to the prvious fall. A phone call to the wife to pick me up in a country lane far away from home........... would of tried to get home single speed but didnt have the right tool to take apart jockey wheels if that makes sense.

All I suffered was gravel rash to the thigh and a bruised ego

Straight to LBS on return who are hoping to get the job done for Wednesday and hopefully salvage the mechanism too!

Bad luck, you had a much worse day than me!
I only had a slow puncture in my rear tyre.

Hopefully youve got all your bad luck out of the way in one day - i guess with alot of us cyclists it takes coming off once to remind us that its autumn and its wet and we need to be a bit more careful , i had mine the other day.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Funnily enough, I had thought about posting something similar.....

I had my 'interesting' day on Sunday - spill on club run .... bike OK, but funny click in elbow and increasing pain. Riding back home to pick up commuting bike with lock to ride into A&E (as you do) then got puncture in rear tyre. Three hours in A&E for triage, X-ray, and consultation.

Anyway, one puncture and a small fracture in the elbow was the total for the day. Could have been worse.

Yes, bike OK, that was the primary concern, naturally, although I did find that that the cap at the end of the handlebars had come out slightly! Fortunately I've got a BTEC in pushing end caps back into handlebars, so I solved that problem by myself. (But upset that the nurse at A&E checked me over thoroughly but didn't offer to manipulate my rear mech to check that it wasn't damaged.)
