I have a handled 3mm allen key that half as long as it was originally, ground down multiple times to fresh end..

Torx are a much better fastener design.

Actually, it was a torx bolt!

Take the allen key that rounded the bolt off and throw it away, if it has done it once it will do it again. :cursing:

Yes, it's gone in the bin, it was the naff freebie ones, similar to what comes with flat pack furniture. Ok for getting on when using a torque wrench for final adjustment, but useless and too small and awkward for removing the discs. I've ordered a hardened tool on ebay for a few quid.

Of course all ball-head allen keys were banned from the workshop or ground down on day 1. They are just tears waiting to happen.

I didn't realise this until recently, having had the use of them on expensive park tool wrenches, I thought they would be safe to use, but I noticed my FD was getting harder to adjust. This was why. I'll be avoiding ball ends from now on!
