Display Cabinet Lighting?

Could someone please recommend a low power/temperature "easy to fit" light fitting that would be suitable for the inside of this display cabinet:

I'm looking to replace this broken light fitting which is over 20 years old:

Clearly lighting technology has moved on in the last 20 years and I'm thinking of maybe low voltage LEDs, but I'm also looking for something that will provide a nice soft ambient light rather than a harsh and cold light.

I bought some from IKEA. Go on a wet Wednesday and it's not such a trial.

Go on ebay, search for 12v LED strip lighting

Should be able to find one for cheap, with a 12v power supply, and an LED strip with an adhesive back.

How many shelves and would you be able to fix mirrors to the underside of the shelves?
