Do birds go for you in the dark...?

I've had a few close ones with birds, mostly Buzzards.

This morning it was a Barn Owl

Is it just chance that we almost "clash" or are these birds attracted to the light etc?

Sorry. I thought you were suggesting that cyclists could only pull by night. As you were....

By pure coincidence i had a bat accompany me this morning just in front and to the right of me. Only about 50 yards but very pleasant. Had owls do it before but never a bat.

I've noticed quite a few bats just lately, in the early evenings. The other night I had one stay just in front of me for a couple of hundred yards. Not that I mind, I'm a bat-lover...

I quite often get followed by a barn owl on my commute. It glides around me waiting to see if I disturb mice, voles or rabbits all of which seem to tolerate cars and lorries, but run for it if a bike goes by.

I was once hit by a herd? of ducks. They were in a hedgerow eating whatever emerges after a shower. They took off en masse as I passed. I was hit by two or three of them. Fortunately none of them went into the wheels. They leave a nasty bruise.

I always found that birds would only ever go for me in the dark......

The birds around here often bugger off to the pub in skimpy gear and return late at night with their feathers ruffled

Bats I often see when I'm doing a late cycle ride, but they're seen from my bedroom widow every night, I've watched them take moths in flight from around the street lamp outside.

I've was dive bombed by a seagull in broad daylight recently.

Other than that, any birds that have gone for me in the dark have lost interest once they've seen me in the light. ;)

A little OT, but Ducks and Geese on the canal seemed to go for me, the first few times I rode down there, now I just squeel and they run away
