Its a Samsung Galaxy.
Every now and then I get the message "turn on anti malware to protect........".
It seems genuine but if its needed why isnt it automatically on as a factory setting?
Any ideas ?

I've had a Galaxy for about 5 years now and never had malware. The only problem I've had was when I must have accidentally opened and joined a wrestling website and it deducted a subscription from my phone bill. My company's phone supplier sorted that out for me.

My phone and tablet run behind a firewall, but I don't use an antivirus.

I use McAfee Livesafe. Originally bought it just to cover my PC and iPad against viruses and malware but since it protects me on unlimited devices I added my iPod and my phone too. It lets me locate any device if lost, sound an alarm on the device, or remotely wipe it. Well worth £16 a year.
