i have had 2 puncures in one trip two bloody big thorns

prob a freakish streak of bad luck and may never happen again but better than carrying 2 tubes just on the safe side

totally appreciate that ,
but if you had changed tubes youd still have gotten that 2nd puncture and a 3rd would mean resorting to patches anyway .

Jussie's are one tool which cannot be compromised on, quality wise, as even with good makes you risk rounding off stubborn nut/bolt heads. If you must have one, get a Bahco or Facom.
Better still, as someone else has already said, look your bike over, assess what you need spanner wise (if anything) and either replace it with hex socket head screws (allen bolts to most) or get specific spanners for them. I've got an old-stylee dumbell-shaped spanner with 8 different sizes which, IIRC, came from my LBS.
