Yes I do now after this happened...

Coming home from work one day, I joined M6 from M69 to meet a huge traffic jam. The traffic trundled along at a snails pace until the next junction where I saw an old lady stranded in the first lane in her car, just where the double lane slip road was coming on, so technically you could say she was in the middle lane. Everyone was just driving around her. I pulled up on the hard shoulder by which time she was half way across the slip road but her car had well and truly died. So i managed to push her the rest of the way on to the hard shoulder. She had no phone and no idea who her breakdown cover was with, only knowing it was with her bank. To cut a long story short I managed to get hold of her husband and her breakdown company, through her bank, and sorted it all out and then waited with her on the hard shoulder until the breakdown man arrived. We swapped details to keep in touch and I went on my way. I never gave it another thought.

5 months later I had a really tough month with bills and vets fees. I didn't get paid until the Monday and I drove home on Friday night knowing the only food in the house was a couple of tins of dog food and some mouldy cheese. I had £10 in the bank and needed petrol to get home.

When I walked in the door there was a hand written envelope, looked like some kind of greetings card. I opened it and it was a thank you card from the lady on the motorway... with a £50 (!!!) Marks and Spencers voucher. Not only did I eat for the weekend but I ate posh food!!!

I'm not sure about karma but I quite like this famous quote....

“I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.”

I believe in fate and god . I don't practice that stuff but i think there is something there .
I try to live my life in a good way but i just keep finding that evil farkers and nasty people win all the time . I think i will stick to trying to be a good man though .

Karma as in bad things you do come back to you and good deeds you do will be returned, I think does not happen by design, it's just chance.
I believe in fate though, or if you want to call it destiny: some stuff in life we can accept or rebel against, still it's going to happen, nothing we can do to stop it happening.

Karma's a way of hedging your bets really. An insurance policy that may never pay out, but it gives you a little "peace of mind", as the salesmen say.

it seems fate is heavily influenced by religious indoctrination, with all that predetermined nonsense I'm surprised we haven't had gods plan thrown in for good measure...
I just can't head my head around why so many people still believe in karma, fate and all the other nonsense...
We want magic and a bit of mystery, Mr Spock, that's why.

Karma is just a word, it's the connection between the word and an event, which makes the event seem more significant to the person experiencing it, than a casual observer, who has no connection to the person, who is linking the word, to the event. It's all things relevant, and relativity can skew the perspective somewhat.

I do not believe in fate or god or any outside force at all.

I think it can all be put down to chance and the fact that we notice the coincidence but don't notice the non-coincidence.

For every Waylon Jennings there is a Big Bopper (the latter took his place in Buddy Holly's plane).

Something does go on with us doing good though. This is not fate but perhaps that nice people attract other nice people and mean people gravitate towards other mean people. You often get an unpleasant bickering couple who just seem to deserve each other. So the good deed does then predispose you to getting a good deed back.
The bugger who drove past the poor stranded lady will not get a voucher turn up in the post.

I don't believe in a predetermined destiny or some kind of organised natural justice system.

I do believe that if some one does me a good turn then i am more inclined to help somebody else, and so it goes on.
