Do you enjoy commuting by bike?

I had to get to work by other means in the three-day blizzards last month. It was a nightmare. I found myself getting cross at work and tetchy at home.

Was glad to get out in the sub-zero temperatures again.

I love it.

It's a short ride across town that is otherwise a frustratingly time-consuming, stop-start drive, or a good hour's brisk walk. I get to lock up my bike right outside the clinic rather than go searching for a parking space. I arrive feeling nicely awake, warmed up and ready for action. And the ride home is a joy - it's mostly downhill and usually it's early evening so the roads are quieter too.

Try not cycle-commuting for a few years, see how you feel about it then. Second day back on a bike, it was snowing this morning! Brilliant!
